Study Overview
The REVEAL Registry is a multicenter, observational, U.S.-based study of the clinical course and disease management of patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). All consecutive consenting newly diagnosed or previously diagnosed patients with World Health Organization (WHO) Group I PAH, who meet specific hemodynamic criteria based upon prior performance of right heart catheterization, at participating institutions will be enrolled.
Patients three months and older may be enrolled regardless of the specific treatments received before enrollment or during the study. At the time of study entry, data on past medical history will be collected using patient interview and review of the patient's medical record. Thereafter, patients participating in the registry will be followed for at least 5 years.
3,500 patients from approximately 55 participating centers across the United States will be enrolled and tracked in the REVEAL Registry. Patient enrollment began in March, 2006 and is expected to continue through 2009. To ensure generalizability of the results, a variety of academic and community PAH centers have been selected to participate in REVEAL.
